I had searched through the forums, but I may have missed if this topic was already created, so I do apologize if so!
But, I had a nifty little idea about some sort of survival Mode.
Not too sure how the layout would go, but the general idea would be multiple sets of Emitters, that are timed to go off at certain intervals to make the round extremely difficult, quit even impossible. Not so much to win, but just to see how long a person could hold out before eventually being overwhelmed by the creeper waves.
I was playing Nazi Zombies on COD: BO and had my Creeper game on pause taking a momentarily stress relieving man-slaughter when this idea had come together as I glanced back between my computer and the TV.
The idea of a Non-winnable, never ending horde of Creeper that I must waste possibly hours to fight against, only to lose in one immense wave after another.. just gets me amp'ed up.
I've attempted making similar maps on CW, but they all lack a bit of luster. As I try to give myself every advantage by digging immense pit-falls I can simply clear with drones repeatedly, so I usually take control of every situation I make.
But I've tinkered around with the map editor and I've hidden the totems far out of reach behind my rows of timed emitters.. Watched as I took my ground, and eventually lost it. Achieving some effect of what I had hoped, but I know someone else could improve on this!
But I would really like to know what everyone else's perspective is on this idea!
There are maps like this, and it has been discussed, but I don't know where...
what is your views about it?
It's hard to be original for sure, so things tend to get Necro'd in some sense.
I have had little luck finding a decent map made by another person to suit what I'm looking for though

I think it'd be neat, but a little hard to implement.
Can be made, but limited at some point. just lots of emitters where they are delayed
pretty much impossible to lose that game, though
I'll have to try my hand at the idea..... The only problem lies in the fact that you need a score to post a map.
maybe tell the map approver and get a special permit? ;)

No, the new map approver system, really needs a score to be posted, no exceptions.
Actually.... He's right! Sometimes they've approved maps with no score, such as the bridging tutorial map, and some other stuff that's either made to teach something, or prove a point.

Older maps
I'll send some messages or something.
Duh!! I've got it.... I'll make the city start out surrounded by 3 totems that you can choose to activate when you're ready to go.... Highest score wins. The map will get progressively harder until you can't hold back the creeper.

Highest score = lowest.
The longer you stay, the lower your score.
Just keep flying OC in the air for a couple of days. It may be boring, but hey, you've got the high score! ;D
Set up a simple macro and stuff ;)
lowest score wins... and Upperkees, that's why I said 3 totems. so you have to be on the ground to activate them.

Duh! Of course you land between the totems after flying for a few days!
so it needs to be locked down

so it needs to be locked down
But then it will always charge the totems immediately (unless you deactivate the totem packet filter).
then they are just out of reach, then you have time to deactivate it, but you will have to tell them in the opening text to do that. and that highest score + lowest number.
alright, so they start just out of reach on either side... and in that case, OC doesn't need to be locked. I'll see what I can do. The only problem is that only what the map considers your highest score will be uploaded. Not what I'll consider highest score.

so you have to do your best the first time
I guess...
But then, of course, there will be people complaining about it because thy didn' actually rea anything, and they just see that you can connect the totems in about 10 seconds.

well, then you gotta name it something that signals that its a survival map, and explain to people as best you can in a place where everybody will read. or make something to draw attention to the opening text...
MAYBE MAKE THE OPENING TEXT AND DESCRIPTION ALL CAPS AND NAME IT "survival mode"? THAT MIGHT WORK. LMAO

YEAH!! :D ;D
that'll do it too. lmao... how did you make the text that big anyways??
[size=(size you want, with pt after it)]text here[/size]
I see now
EDIT: bit too big?? XD
Don't abuse it please (just like colors and such), as people won't like it.

yeah... first time i actually found out how to do it... they keep it so secret... ;)
I'll start work on a survival mode map soon! I'll let you guys know.

BB code overview (http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?action=help;page=post#bbcref) ;)
This weekend, I promise I'll post a survival mode map. Keep on the lookout for it!
So if you cap all emitters you shouldn't charge the totems but keep adding more blasters until you reach the 32 packet limit and then quickly charge them before it's too late?
Pretty much... New emitters will start around the edges every minute... I think I'm gonna put the city in the middle, and have you surrounded. I might have some pits and stuff as well to make it less boring.
You know you can also increase the intensity of existing (already working) emitters by stacking them?
indeed I do... but if they get capped like that, then people can just keep adding new blasters to what's capping them, and it won't be much of a problem.
when they increase, have them 'flare' before settling down, and that might dislodge any blasters.
ya... but there's a certain point where, if you get enough stuff around them, you can cap nearly anything. short of an intensity 1000 burst, there's not much to do to stop that. and Even intensity 1000 emitters can be fought back, mthw2vc has proved that. And the purpose would be to see how long you can survive, not see how far you can push... Trust me, what I'm working on should be pretty neat.
I know of a map called perfect tsunami that is like it but you hae to play by the rules ;)

Goal for the week... work on keeping promises.
To do the survival map wouldn't it be easier to ask the map editor that they will switch the score placement?
in 1 of the brwser creeper games there is that option to switch to survival mode and than emitters have insane intensity
LMG, that is Evermore.
Interesting idea!
