There is a way to Copy an existing Ship Design.

If you go to this directory -> C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\particlefleet\ships
you can copy the .dat file from a ship to make a copy of that Ship Design.

Then, if you rename the copy it shows up in the ShipEditor with the new name.
