Title: [Suggestion] Lathing Priority
Post by: GoodMorning on October 05, 2016, 01:25:33 AM
In PRPL, there are often Cores which are very powerful/dangerous, while others can be safely ignored until everything else is finished with.

Could there please be(come) a way to target a specific unit with nearby lathe modules, or a way to set the Core priority?

I don't want my Omni lathe to be targeting something as dangerous as an energy pod when there is also a mire-spawning Core in range (for example).

I just got an idea because of how it worked in CW world. Would it be possible to have a PRPL module on a ship that is a nullifier? So you basically build the ship but stop building before the module is finished, then bring it in range and let the module finish?

Also, energy pods should be lower in priority than emitters, was the emitter really in range?

That was a hypothetical priority comparison.

I was talking of PRPL-Cores with similar strategic properties, which cannot currently be set. So if I script a unit which is low priority, and another which it is critically important to take out as fast as possible, then I cannot currently indicate which should be lathed first. I was asking for this to change.

We also need some clarification on the lathe settings. The difference between "structure" and "other" escapes me, and cannons are considered part of "mines" for some reason.

Yeah, even though there are currently 4 target categories you can turn off, to much stuff falls into the same categories even before PRPL is taken into account. I remember wanting to pick up a ship pod and the only way to get it without my lathe getting kiled was in range of an energy source that I could not protect. So my lathe repeatedly build a mine which instantly got destroyed instead of picking up that pod which I desperatly needed, because both counted as "structures"
