I took what I'm sure it not the intended path.  Start point, I put mortars in my base sufficient to keep the creep from getting up to me but far enough inside they wouldn't pop bugs.  I then tried pushing north, realized it didn't work, pushed west.  Terped up firing platforms for my cannons to keep the digitalis back and allow me to place a nullifier right next to the step in the terrain.  There are fewer bugs when you attack at the edge of the digitalis.  I then went along the digitalis and just barely survived the spore storm.

Interesting approach with those runners.
And varied enough to make it interesting to keep the process going.

Having to nullify all the stuff afterwards was a bit annoying; it would have been easier if there had been a nullifier on the map. Just strong enough that it's unreachable with the cannon unless all runners nearby have been... "convinced to cooperate".

Hint: Ignore any hints about sending cannons, or terping walls.
You want to (ab)use the runners inside the walls, and keep the emitter and runner nest alive as long as you need them.
