So it has been one brief month since the initial release of CW3. The game has outsold my expectations by about a factor of 3x. Yet again, I underestimated the strength of the Creeper World community. Fan response has been outstanding, and I’m both humbled and encouraged.
Along the way we have picked up GamersGate, ShinyLoot, and Desura. I’m an advocate of consumer choice, so anyone who doesn’t want to purchase directly via KnuckleCracker.com (which is handled by Fastspring.com’s secure e-commerce solutions), can use these other stores. Now, a Greenlight page has been made available:
The Steam Greenlight project page for CW3: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=191501079 (Visit and vote Yes)
Whether you use steam or not, your vote helps ensure the success of this game and future titles on all platforms. Really, this is a big deal for the long term success of game.
Now, what else… If you have not already noticed you can get the latest public beta build of CW3 from this forum topic:
http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?topic=14505.0
The current beta has bug fixes and a few other changes. In the next few weeks I’ll be bringing Colonial Space online, so hold on for a wild ride in the coming weeks. Some of the early maps I’ve seen blow my mind. There are some very advanced developers out there doing some amazing things already. For a preview, check out the Custom Maps topic for CW3:
http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?board=32.0
Lastly, an official press release went out this morning for CW3 so we should start to see more reviews rolling in over the coming weeks. Stay tuned, it’s about to get crazy as we head towards the end of the year…
nice 🙂
Are those of us who already bought CW3 going to get a Steam code when it gets greenlit?
Absolutely, pending Valve’s approval naturally… but they have done this for other games. If you have bought through KnuckleCracker.com I’ll send out (or otherwise make available) a steam key should the game get Greenlighted.
Awesome, I only heard that 3 was released 2 days ago and the only reason I haven’t bought it yet was that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to wait til it was on Steam. I finished the demo so I’ll buy it now 😀
Great to finally see this get through the Greenlight registration. Hopefully you have overcome the hardest part of the journey by getting it up there!
Yes! Insta-vote!
CW3 will be Greenlit – it has to be!
Looking forward to buy it. ASAP.
Keep up the great work!
Rated thumbs up and left a great comment about the game 🙂
Congrats on the all the people buying this game! Hope many more come in the future
I really hope total biscuit reviews this game. The creeper world community would explode if he did.
Could you imagine if Pewdiepie played it?
The community would go nuclear pretty much. The amount of coverage it would get would be as similar as if the game were to be previewed at E3 or something… if not less i suppose.
<3
I’m glad to see this getting on steam greenlight (instantly votes up), though it makes me somewhat regret buying the game immediately. Will there be a way to get it on steam, if we purchased it elsewhere, without re-purchasing?
Either way, totally worth the purchase. This is easily the best game in the CW series so far, and I haven’t even finished it yet.
You’ll get a steam key if it gets greenlit… I don’t double charge 🙂
Voted!
Also, the bolded text makes an interesting if ungrammar version of the post, I wanted to see what would happen if you combined all of them this time:
“Brief month initial CW3 outsold 3x. Underestimated Creeper World. Fan response outstanding humbled encouraged. Consumer choice Greenlight your vote helps ensure the success big deal. What else…latest public beta build of CW3 bug fixes Colonial Space blow my mind advanced developers amazing Custom Maps topic. Press release CW3 reviews. Stay tuned crazy…”
Congratulations 🙂 You figured out the bold text pattern. Others may have as well, but this is the first place I’ve seen it pointed out. The bold text is designed so that you can read just it and still get the gist of the important stuff. It isn’t always perfect (or even close), but that’s the intent.
And, thanks for the vote!
Voted.
Try and get total biscuit to do a WTF for your game.
I need help. I try to edit my Crpl scripts but it tells me “The document could not be opened.
creeper World 3 cannot open files of this type.” I’m using a mac. Help someone?
Before It wasn’t letting me edit the scripts. So I told it to open them using creeper world 3.
Did I do that wrong? Can someone help me fix it?
What do I open it with?
I think I understand. Try using notepad (if you do not have notepad, use whatever system you write with.) It should come up with a message saying something like: CW3 script made {whatever time you activate this}
On the top, the end of the program should be written as “.crpl”
any text editor, I use notepad++ as there is a syntax definition built for it, but you can use any text editor.
I’m using openoffice the crpl core won’t execute the script. It won’t even emit creeper.
You will get a whole lot more help and examples on the forums here:
http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?board=25.0
I’m now using textedit. nothing shows up in the values section for me to edit. I think it’s a bug
how will the updates work with like colonial space. will it auto update is their a place to download it?
Once I fully publish a new version, the game will indicate there is an update on the main menu. All that will do is tell you to visit knucklecracker.com, though. Once there, visit the CreeperWorld 3 page and there is an ‘Updates’ link at the top. Click that and download the updated version. In fact, there is already an updated version there you can get right now. Note that this is a bug fix release mostly and only adds a few features. Colonial Space is still in development.
In the next couple of days I will be updated the ‘current version’ indicator on the server so the game will start to indicate a new version is available on the main menu. But, you can update now if you prefer.
ok cool i will do that
Answered my question before I had a chance to ask it!
Good luck on Greenlight and I am very happy to hear CW3 has gotten a good reception, you’ve put a lot of thought and dedication into the series and deserve everything that comes from that.
I’m about to buy CW3 but wondering WHICH one I should choose to buy from.
I use both Desura and Gamersgate, but not Shinyloot.
If I purchase them from those two I mentioned using, will I get steam key once it’s greenlit/ready as well?
I honestly don’t know the exact mechanics of how steam keys will get distributed if the game gets greenlit. My best guess is that email will be sent to existing customers. Now I have to provide the email addresses to steam. For sure, I have the email addresses when people purchase direct from here (which uses fastspring.com as the secure payment processor). For other stores, I don’t always have access to that info. That doesn’t mean those folks won’t get steam keys, it just makes it more likely they will have to contact me directly. Apologies for not being more informative, but I don’t know how the process works just yet.
But purchase from the place you feel most comfortable with. I get the most of the money when purchased direct, but if you click the Desura link on this site and then buy the game that counts as a referral and I get almost as much as when purchasing directly. ShinyLoot is also paying out more to dev’s currently than the normal 70/30 split. So do what feels best to you and I’ll make sure that folks who want steam keys will get them.
Thank you for reply.
For Desura, customers could grab their steam key off Collections( http://www.desura.com/collection , and it will show games owned on your desura account) for some games they own, just by clicking “Keys” option next to games that are available(not 100% steam-released games on Desura have steam keys AFAIK).
I don’t know how devs handle and you may have to contact Desura about it.
So…next update is when?
You can get the current public beta builds on the forums right now:
http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?topic=14505.0
As for the next bug update that adds Colonial Space. I’m planning to get that released in December. That’s when the custom map party will truly start…
How is the Greenlight process going?
The comments there are heavily positive so far – and in comparison to some of the recently Greenlit titles there are way more comments!
Keep it up!
Virgil,
when I am not playing creeper world, I like to play the gemcraft series and apparently the developer is a fan of yours. check out his latest update

Woah! Ha ha that is really cool 🙂 Should get even more fans to try out this game! Will also get more positive votes on steam. Any new news about the whole playing it using steam thing yet?
Why not give TB a copy and get him to do a “WTF is?” of it?
