Game development is a fickle beast. One day you are the hero of Maxia, the next you are on the bridge of the Stargazer under the control of a big glowing ball. Hard work, smart thinking, and most of all consistency are the keys to success. In that regard I’ve been busy adding in all of the necessary support for various mission types to Game 3. Everything from custom missions hosted online to the story missions, to many procedural worlds. All necessary work, but very time consuming and not a lot of flashy visuals to show for the work. But… during the process I did manage to create a new ‘titan’ enemy structure.
The missions of game 3 are organized into star systems. There are many star systems and each system contains some number of planets. Jumping from system to system is constrained by your ability to warp to nearby systems. But, there is a problem. Many (most) systems contain an Inhibitor that prevents these physics defying warp maneuvers. You have to journey to the planet that contains this Inhibitor and take it out before you can journey to other nearby systems. These Inhibitors, well, you’ll just have to see…
Cool. Thanks for the update!
Looks like the ore got a visual update, too.
I wonder how large this map is, because it looks like there are 2 Bertha targets, but no structures in sight.
It’s amusing to see where there’s an area that’s “suggested” as a landing area for the CN, but you like placing them in other locations.
Are these “suggestions” good places to start, or are do you place them kinda arbitrarily?
Realizing that the previous sentence could sound harsh, I expect that there is some playing around with where it’s placed, so that the creeper doesn’t just flood it immediately.
My question is more-so directed to the areas that it’s not going to be quite so quickly.
Also, love the TNG reference.
If you click the picture to zoom in then look in the lower right hand corner you will see the map size and my screen resolution. Both are on the ‘large’ end.
Most procedural maps have a spot placed that guarantees a landing site. But sometimes it isn’t the best place to start.
So I am assuming that you have to beat a few worlds to be able to travel to the Inhibitor planet?
I like the idea of organizing missions into star systems. Makes for a more interesting game.
Keep up the good work Virgil!
Worlds can also be shielded and require unlock codes before you can land on them. And these unlock codes are things you can only get from other planets.
Do you have to type the codes in?
No…. I wouldn’t do that to players 🙂 They are associated with artifacts and having the artifacts in inventory is all that is needed.
Well, its good we don’t have to type in the code. That would be way too much DRM for me. 🙂
First, nowai!?
Omgomgomg, i cannot wait to get my teeth into this, i make a chirping sound every time i see an update!
Omnomnom, yummy code.
This sounds extremely promising. Looks like the third installment of the series will be way better than the two previous ones <3. Thank you Virgil.
it is looking awesome!!!
any news about launch date? or at least horizon in days, week, months?
My work is focused on finishing off the game and getting it ready for release at this point. But I can’t give an estimate since it will only be used to clobber me over the head 🙂
cool, so I am starting a count up to launch, just like a count down but with no end (didn’t the creeper do this when it set out to undo every thing?)
Just say “Tomorrow” and then when everyone freaks out you can say “No, it’s still going to be released… tomorrow.”
On the plus side, it sounds like you’re finally into the last 20% which going by software dev. rules hopefully won’t take 80% of the time to complete 🙂
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninety-ninety_rule
Couldn’t you just release it then make updates to thew game and put them on the website and we can get them when you put them up?
That way lies obscurity . . . a good first impression can’t be made out of mulligans and do-overs.
ok, i’m in, where is the buy button?
Best video ever (repost):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSs6DcA6dFI
I do not always make games, but when I do, I make them perfect. Stay classy, my friends.
It’s not well known, but there are some outtakes from those commercials. The great Orson Welles showed up on the set drunk a couple of times, but tried to soldier on . . . the results are hilarious.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6P1ifGjvEE
That is kind of an interesting way to prevent players from moving to the next system. Fun too.
So the enemy has a new titan but do the players?
Loved it!
Hmmmmm. I wonder if you just nullify it, or . . . . something else?
How about bertha shots in the center of it.;)
No, please. Don’t make titans a requirement for levels including inhibitors.
2 weeks and only a picture? :/
Please show us a video, I’ve waited 2 weeks for a video 🙁
pwease :3
Videos take me a day to create. I have to make a mission, play it, then play it to record it, then encode and upload the video, then…. I’ve just been too busy to take a day to do that since I’ve been trying to get the game finished.
I am just glade to hear something, it had been so long I thought the creeper got you…
No, no, definitely work on getting the game finished! Getting a video out can definitely be second.
Or you could just make one of the alpha/beta testers do it for you 😀 I mean, why not?
Dude, just do a vid, you don’t have to edit it for us 😛
i would rather play the game, then to watch a video, so i’m fine if its just pictures.
“…well, you’ll just have to see…”
When?
I know this has been addressed before, but do you have any update about a possible date in which you are going to release this game? I’m starting to lose my sanity here. 🙂
‘This year’ is all I can say. Sooner the better, but not before it’s ready.
Are we talking Aztec New Year(March 12) or Assyrian New Year(April 1) or a bit later of a New Year like the Jewish New Year(September 4)?
Because if it is the Gregorian New Year, the wait may kill some of us.
Does the digitalis slow down if it tries to go uphills or go across a void?
No, the Creeper is trying to undo everything, meaning that the digitalis is capable of defying the laws of physics.
* Reads text *
* Looks at Inhibitor *
That’s it where dead…
On a more serious note… 🙂
I LOVE the idea of the Inhibitor!
your basically building up to a grand goal ( destroying the inhibitor ) just to get out and start all over again…
But How meany Solar systems are there gonna be with approximately how meany planets each????
P.S. The Inhibitor looks like an old CN with blue crystals in the middle… Oh no wait….
That’s one big emitter… O_O
Star systems have 1 to 10 or so planets (currently). There are roughly 50 star systems in a sector. And there as many sectors as I have need for (story sectors, prospector sectors, etc). Currently the plan is to allow each owner of the game to have their own set of systems for their custom maps.
It seems a lot of games are using special maps with sectors & such. I am indeed a fan of that and a fan of the games that use this type of system (particularly gemcraft 3 and starbound). I love how this is going and cannot wait for it to come out. So, as said by many before, TAKE MAH MONEY! 😀
And in the case of yum234, his own set of sectors. I’m personally impressed that one single person has uploaded about 15% of all the custom maps.
there better be a evermore of this game
Great work Virgil! Looking forward to losing many many hours/days to this new creeper game 😉 keep up the great work!
I wouldn’t call it losing the time. I think its a great use of time.
Virgil will release the game when it will be perfect to his eyes.
And as the game will be perfect to his eyes, it will be perfect to ours. 😀
actually CIEm, if you know anything about making video games, the creators are their own greatest critics. so when it is ready to be released to us, it will look so fliping awsome we might spill rainbows from our eyebrows.
Do you plan to make some maps harder by either changing strenght of creeper or reducing strenght of weapons?
It would be cool to have some maps that are simple in design but hard to play.
Maybe afer finishing campain an insane mode or mode that you get less energy from colector/reactor or where the cost is doubled ie you get less ammo for each packet.
There will be many… and I expect MANY variations in custom maps. There are many options that can be explored for those creating and sharing worlds.
Virgil, above you said “Everything from custom missions hosted online”…
Does this mean we will have a more user friendly world uploader and downloader that is hosted in the CP3 program?
Yeah, everything is built into the game. The editor and the uploader and all will be within the game. Basically, you won’t have to leave the game. You can just warp off Zefram Cochrane style to your own star system and live happily every after. Your friends will wonder about your disappearance, but perhaps you will find a companion who will keep you young as the years pass.
In the famous words of Capt. Picard, “Make it so, Number One.”
So make it so already! You’re KILLING us here.
First off, great job! I really can’t wait!!
(This has probably been askes before, but I have to ask again) Is there a slight estimate of how much it will cost, and any possible way to pre-order it?
Most likely as much as the other creeper world games.
it will most likely be 15 bucks like before and no pre-orders
I notice you updated the CN graphic a little bit.
What’s up with the differently colored guns? I see orange, and I see red! Are we talking about some sort of per-unit upgrading going on here?
If you mean the barrels on the pulse cannons, no, there is no upgrading. As a cannon shoots without end, it’s barrel gets “Red Hot.”
Neat little touch, in that case! Small details like that are something I’ve not seen yet in a CW game, which is a great addition!
Great work Virgil!
the orange-red colors are simply an indication of use- the more the blaster fires, the redder it gets. sorry to dissapoint.
keep it up virgil
Hooray! Something else for us to blow the gloop out of.
Do you accept human sacrifices for alpha/beta access? I will give you my firstborn child. *clears throat, looks around innocently* I like this. Instead of a linear campaign, you have the potential for a few missions to start with, a dozen to do in any order, and then a linear endgame system/world. That was one of the best parts of Mass Effect 2, in my opinion, and it would have been even better if the game could have fit on a single disc. All ten recruitment and ten loyalty missions, and then the suicide mission. My only request is that you get rid of the one pixel gap on the menu between the cancel and leave world buttons and the far right of the unit build menu. OCD, you know?
cool update, quick question do the inhibitors take more then one shoot from the nulifiers just to mix it up?
i wonder if you destroy that inhibitor that it will create a big power zone for a bertha or something? if so it is awesome 😀
Berthas already benefit from power zones – you just have to make sure it’s centered.
Are you sure? I thought Titans didn’t get PZ effects
You should trust him. Trust me.
Yes. Because Virgil has said so.
How do they benefit?
I would guess a decreased reload cost, a increased load rate, or both.
I think he said each shot does 6x the damage.
Inhibitors, very interesting 😮 !
If we need to destroy these fellas to get across the galaxy will this mean we may also see some wormholes, to travel long distances(otherwise it get’s tedious) and maybe creeper ‘homeworld’ with particularly devastating destructive capacity?
It would be kind of cool to have a setting so you could customize the colors on the units, like changing the blue on the CN to red, green, purple, orange, or yellow.
When I looked closer at the pic, I noticed that NNW of the inhibitor is an ore deposite that looks like HALF of a deposite in the sense that it is as long as a regular deposite but not as wide. What is up with that?
And why, if it is so, are the structures in different sizes (compare the space taken by collectors and reactors for example)?
I meant “deposit” obviously. Ought to be a spell-check on these posting software programs sometime.
Google Chrome comes with an inbuilt spellcheck on any text box.
I use chrome and still get some stupid typos
It looks like that because it dosen’t produce ore quite as fast as other ‘full’ deposits, so you would get less ore over time.
“less ore over time”. Are you telling me that they are no longer infinite? Or do you mean that they are still infinite, but JUST slower?
Still infinite, but just slower. (I assume)
I think Flabbyflag is making estimations based on observations, so you probably have the same sources he does.
V has said that he favors a rate-based AC economy, though, so I would expect AC deposits to be rate-limited but infinite.
I want it to be semi-rate limited. like CW2, but much more rate limited, but there SHOULD be at least an option for a finite amount in them.
Not sure I see the advantage in limiting certain types of gameplay. I think one of CW’s strongest suits is that it’s a game that can largely be played the way the player dang well wants to play it.
Just slower.
Maybe the mouse wheel could be used for zoom?
Already is, along with Q and Z.
Question about game mechanics – If there is a full guppy parked next to a blaster that is also physically connected to the ship what supplies the packets? The guppy or the ship? Sounds like a way to shortcut the path of packets to the front line…if the packets come from whatever is closer instead of favoring your ship.
It appears that packets are delivered from the closest source.
So if your guppy is closer than the CN, it will supply packets until it’s empty.
Once it’s empty, it will fly back to its pad and the CN will dispatch packets to your blaster until the guppy returns. (assuming there’s no other nearby sources)
Too many are too impatient. What a shame.
My voice is one that asks for the best game possible. Rush is counter-productive to quality. The best choice, in my opinion, is for Virgil to make the game that he will be satisfied with.
Thank you very much for the up-dates. I am still impressed.
Suppose you decide to destroy a guppy for whatever reason. How could you use the supplies the guppy or pad is carrying before destroying it if possible? It is confusing because there does not seem to be a “disconnect” button.
One more thing, have you considered adding a mini-map to the game?
Could it be possible for the packets the guppy was charging to just be sent back to the CN? If the guppy was destroyed.
I went to click the play button, and then frantically looked around, thinking it must be there. Only a picture =/ You’re such a tease Virgil!
So… What about game-overs? how do you get those?
Assuming the Cn’s cannot be rebuilt, I guess that creeper needs to cover the whole ground for it to work.
And there is the objective units that needs to live at all costs too.
Did you build the aether forge, or was it there when the mission started?
You recieve a game over once all command nodes are destroyed on a current map. (Or atleast that is what I beleive.)
How much will it cost to build the aether totems?
aether*******FORGE***
Sorry about that 😉
That’s ok, we’ll certainly wait a day for a video rather than 3 weeks for a screenshot 😀
Personally, I’d rather see development of CW3 advanced by a day’s work, than a snazzy video. I’m more interested in getting my hands on the final product than I am in seeing more detailed ‘dev diaries’.
If keeping development moving means a screenshot in a three week span . . . I can deal with that.
Unless each clip does not have something particularly significant in it for the next post as each one goes, the clips ought to remain
I agree entirely with you. I much rather wait for the finished product, and get it quicker, than be delayed by small breadcrumbs. I don’t need more videos to buy the game, hell, just seeing that 1 screenshot gets me to want to buy it!
There’s such a thing as too many breadcrumbs, and a video every week.. I’d call that too much.
Agreed. He’s whetted our appetite enough that now it just needs to be made and released. If the current videos and pics didn’t sell you already, then there’s no hope for you. 🙂
Where do I send my CC info? 😉
Assuming they are all active there are 52 beta testers. You are one of them Lurkily. It rings a little hollow when a beta tester says he is more interested in the final product than a dev video. You are not waiting for anything. On the other hand the only time I get to see the game is here, and videos are obviously a lot better than pictures. This level to get the picture was obviously played – by one of 53 people with access to the game. Why not record what went on up to here and post the video?
I’m happy to wait too Virgil. I also want a great game as soon as possible. But the breadcrumbs you leave out in the form of videos make the wait a whole lot easier!
Even V does not have the final product that we’re all waiting on. Though I do see where you are coming from.
I’m not always a beta tester. But when I am, I try to remember what it is like when I am not. 🙂
I believe that lurkily wanted to keep that to himself.
i just want the game yesterday. I’ve loved the first two games and can’t wait for this one. I am just glad I only found out about the third one last week. I can barley stand the wait already. I don’t know how the rest of you have been handling waiting this long.
Patience is a virtue. That and having several other games to play through helps.
I handle it my very own way. Every 48 hours I strip on my Santa Clause costume, grab all the newspapers I can find and run across my village, where I jump in the river. While I fall into the river I launch the newspapers in all directions, hoping to hit something with them! Quacking like a duck I get out of the river after 4 minutes and 32 seconds. After this part my memory often fails me. I find myself at home a few hours later, puzzling as to why all my furniture stands outside… !*@$ I’m late, got to go grab that Santa costume…
I jump on my bed, “shoot” with my mouse on the floor pretending that the creeper tries to catch me while I scream Nexus you shall not pass! jump back to my computer hit the F5 button to refresh the blog to see if there is anything new.
waiting drives people crazy 😛
All work and no update makes jack a dull boy.
I think we were all sick of waiting after one week 😉
Considering I did not know there was a second game on the way until AFTER it was released, I can understand. I kind of wish I didn’t stumble onto this until later in development ^.^
I knew about the second game when it came out but I didn’t know about the paid version.
No cursing in the story right?
Cursing gets your map automatically rejected by the MapMod community. All maps have to be appropriate for a 10 year old.
Ergo, CW3 may end up being rated E-10.
Koker- Lol I like the way you described that 🙂
I wonder if the most hardcore fans/nerds dress up as blasters and emmiters and play in the closest park
* Light bulb appears above my head as I search for the closest park on Google earth*
I vote for a rating system. Swearing can make a story great if used correctly. overusing it though makes a map terrible
The few people that are actually able to use swearing to improve storytelling are also good enough to write a great story without swearing.
It’s really not worth all the hassle for so little gain.
Ach! No post!
It’s really annoying, because my future self is playing the game.
The sprayer looks like it has a mustache.
And the runners look like they have mohawks! 😀
Lol flabby that’s a great perspective 😀
My stand point on the cursing is it lye’s where it falls. Cursing can be tolerable if not used innapropriate such as
That *$% guy *^(%( ^%* %^(%( ^%!!! Instead of that jerk gave all our freakin’ water away! Or something simular to it.
I don’t really mind the cursing, however. As long as it doesn’t offend anybody, and it enhances it more than any other word, it should be acceptable.
There is a bigger audience than the people on the blog and forums. I’m sure that if there is cursing in game, than a group will be genuinely offended.
My parents have an anti swearing approach to life. So if there is profanity in the game, than it would be hard for me to get my hands on it.
I do get what you are talking about.
Meh . . . I see very few circumstances where cursing actually enhances the impact of any phrase. The only call I see for vulgarity is in entertainment, where you portray a character that is vulgar.
Even my own sparse uses of vulgarity in my personal interactions are things that I often look back on and wish I could rephrase. Despite portraying emphasis, they often weaken the point that I was trying to make.
Hey when will see a new blog update for this game? i enjoy seeing progress on this game
I think “Land” should be a resource if you know what I mean. I think that instead of just… creating walls out of no were… is not very realistic, I think you should be able to fill the Terps with like 10-20 blocks or so, and have a designation for were you will take the dirt from, but obviously have a Terp there to suck it all up. Just a suggestion, but I think that this will be a great addition, and add perhaps more difficulty?
Keep in mind that this is 12,000 years in the future.
This was considered early on, but game mechanics apparently wasn’t simple enough. Never got to try it out, but….
I can see that easily . . . you can only give a player so much to manage before you begin risking information overload.
Saneman- If he were to do that, how would PZ terps work?
I do, however, think there should be another resource. In CW1 virgilw had energy, Cw2 he added in ore, CW3 adds in ?????
He adds in Aether, so far. 😀
Saying Aether is a resource is frankly no different than saying technytes were resources. But it makes sense either way. RTS games do well when they have at least 3 limiting factors in military production.
Technytes WERE a resource.
That being said, you’re suggesting we have enough resources to manage already? Energy, Ore, Aether? Most RTS’s I know have only two very obvious resources, like Total Annihilation’s energy and metal. If you look closely, though, there are usually at least five or six factors that could be called a resource that are directly tied to overall military progress.
. . . . . . . aether?
Seriously, though, you can only add so many resources before you begin overburdening a casual player with information and management tasks.
Still no post?
Give me a little bit longer… I’m at a critical point in work that has spanned several weeks. It’s been a mountain moving exercise, but I’m getting near another milestone.
Awesome! This game should be amazing, thanks.
I suppose this “milestone” is another way of saying it is where you change the blog completely…?
New blog layout?
I see the blog has changed.
I prefered the old one, don’t know it’s because i was already used to it.
or because of the main screen background, that has vanished
Is the new blog design an indicator for any major news to follow? 🙂
That new design is very clean, like it a lot.
Especially the comments become more easily readable. Good job on this 🙂
Agreed – it’s easier now to tell what comments reply to what. It’s clean, but needs some tweaking. I’d eliminate the spacing between threads, change the background to pure white, blending with the posting background, to start with . . . beyond that I’d have to tinker to offer any more useful feedback.
Frankly, I wish the post numbers still stayed. (In the sense that the old layout had the numbers of which post was posted in order next to each one).
I do agree that the reply thing is better and I like the way time is posted in each head.
but “your comment is awaiting moderation” should have stayed highlighted in red.
This new blog interface is a lot easier to read on my Android phone. Thanks!
i think there memership on the website ran out thats why it looks like that
DaMeta- It is the same for everyone. The blog’s layout was altered.
(Good work virgilw) !
The new blog design is good but I prefer the old one because of no highlighting of v’s reply…
Yeah, this new layout is pretty cool – one thing though, I would suggest that it gets a little more condensed.
I’m not sure why but i like the old layout better. Anyone else baffled that the blog got an update but, the game didn’t?
The old blog comments were broken in the latest update of chrome. So I switched to a new theme to fix that problem without taking any more time than I had to.
Darn Google chrome breaking blogs, is awfully low.
I just wanted to say something about how you sell your games. You should take a page from the makers of Minecraft. I have both the 1st and 2nd game and I keep back ups on an external drive but if my computer dies and my external gets wiped than I have to buy your games again? That really sucks. I love how Minecraft lets me login and download the game. This will be great when I get my new computer. I just wish that you would do something like this.
You can…. just send a mail to support@knucklecracker.com with your purchase info, and I’ll send you new download links.
That will be very useful
O! Well… I forgot about that… now I remember why I saved those emails.
He speaks the truth. I have had to get new links a few times now. Now if only I would learn to keep backups…
Haha, Ikr?
One of these days, i’ll do that and get back CW1!
Virgil,
Very much looking forward to CW3.
I often play CW3 with self-imposed rules that I can’t use certain types of weapon/collector/etc or only limited numbers of them.
It brings more richness and allows getting more out of each map. e.g. playing a map with only blasters or only mortars has a very different feel. This sort of thing could be built into the game. Perhaps you could even make certain technologies sometimes “die” until you find a certain repair artefact – this done at a crucial moment can add drama to a scenario?
Adahus – all of the things you describe are already built into CW2. They are in the map editor and are implemented on a LOT of custom maps. In face one of map makers favorite things to do when they limit a player is turn off weapon types, or only allow a certain amount of a weapon type. I’ve even played a few where the number of reactors is limited so you can only fight so hard/fast. Go check out the custom maps, there are around 2075 of them…
By *certain technologies sometimes “die” until you find a certain repair artefact* he meant in the campaign/galactic conquest(where you go between multiple planets in multiple star systems and if you are stuck, you go somewhere else, get another tech, then come back and play the map with that technology), you lose a technology until you find a place/artefact to repair that type of tech(or at least that is how i understand it).
I am sure virgilw will edit the layout of the blog some more after the heat is less dense around CW3. I, personally, liked the: comment #’s, Virgilws comments being highlighted in blue, the red text saying your comment is awaiting moderation.
What I like about this one is: background is somewhat better and the space seperating the differant threads (I think it much more clean and easier to read, why do you, Lurkily, not like this addition?)
What I would change is: Black background where the daimond areas are only, and add back the benifits of the earlier version.
Here are some changes to CW3 I would like to present (Notice how the space seperates the ideas, and how a replier could respond to either comment.)
I think that if they would go to differant worlds to get tech to beat other worlds, it would be like a jigsaw puzzle. I someone was to do this, I would expand the jigsaw puzzle in custom/special missions. I would make it to where the tech only gave you one. This would bring in more use for the orbital tab (or whatever the concept for this would be) Other worlds can have that same tech, or another tech.
Anyways, who does your concept art, virgilw?
I dont think that is concept art. Concept art is done in completely diffrent type of look where the images look like IN-GAME graphics which is amazing on how the images look alot better than CW 1 or CW2 ever looked i personally like it. If you want to a concept art i will be willing to try to show you what i mean with it
All of the ending credits are him so I be-leave that it is all him.
I think that the whole jigsaw puzzle thing would give the game a more interesting approach but also making it quite complicated to add all in one game. He still has to come put with other games right? So leave some for the next ones, so we can play creeper world FOREVER!!!
I hope such a thing can be created with the map editor.
Virgil, does the map editor support the creation of custom campaigns, similar to the original campaign? A series of custom made maps that span a whole star system, galaxies? This would be a great thing 🙂
MadMag has been doing most of the graphics for cw2 & 3.
It’s a shame.. My behavior at least..
Not being beta worthy, when I go to find new maps, I check the blog now..
Oh such desire.. I realize the work involved, as I am a programmer in a different field.. robotics..
We, the lonly, can handle a release, and updates as balanancing accurs..
I don’t know you well, but when I see a working game, and I know your working your arse off.. to get the game line in..
Aaaarggggg..
Motivational skill.. I doubt it.. You already have it..
Hurry 🙂
if he Rushes then we will end up with something worst than CW .5 and that means something less than half of CW1
True dont rush V.
but can we get another screenshot or video in the meantime? the waiting is killing me!
Any clue as to when we can expect a new update, announcement, piece of art or entertainment? 🙂
Maybe his next update will be the game. 🙂
He seems pretty close.
Within a few days, I’ll post a new video. That’s the plan…
I’ve been super busy getting lots of things in place, including working on the story architecture.
Ah, fantastic 🙂 Looking forward toward it! And we all know you’re a very busy man, Virgil, thanks for taking the time to reply 🙂
What about the pink walls from cw1?
Did you know that I am great at forgetting things? I have meant to ask this question for a while: what kind of processing power and RAM does your computer have, Virgil and alpha testers? At what point does stuff start to lag considerably? I have 8 GB RAM @ 1066 mHz, a 2400 mHz dual core AMD Turion processor, and a built in ATI Radeon 4200 graphics card @ 400 mHz with 3 GB RAM (or something – I’m not sure if it’s partitioned from the main RAM, if it’s shared and that’s the limit, or if it’s built in on the card). At a 640×480 window size, when does the framerate noticeably decrease?
Almost never. The only real performance decrease is when you have a bunch of runners running around – I got to around 15000 before I went below 15 fps.
15000 Runners?! Holy POOP! I think there was a cap on drones in CW2 – only 200 IIRC and Phantoms never spawned if they capped out either.
What happens if you put a nullifire on a power zone in range of an emitter?
Then you get to take out said emitter very easily.
(This is why putting lots of enemy structures in the same place will actually be quite easy to beat, once you get to them.)
someone asked that question before, long before, virgil said it charges for half the packets and has double range
This could be a very handy strategy.
i agree but it still will be a 1 in a million times to find that point where it will help
Not necessarily; If you place a nullifier on a power zone, it leaves no room for a weapon. If you place a mortar on the power zone instead, you would be able to cap the emmiter (most likely)
I suppose it depends on the situation.
🙁 it’s been like 3 weeks!
Whats that big building sorta in the middle?
