Here’s something I bet you didn’t see coming... and neither did I. This week I have a guest video done by ‘J’ one of the alpha/beta testers. This video shows a map he made where CRPL controls terrain, creates message boxes, creates units, and monitors the existence of units. The purpose? Well, old Ben Franklin would be proud!
I’m not sure many strategy games have been used to create something like this before, but in any case classrooms of the world best watch out. The Creeper’s coming for ya…
And if you stop and think for a moment…. if J could make this with a map, what matter of delight/horror might you create?
First?
This looks awesome! Can’t wait to program with CRPL
love it 😀
I knew in theory this was possible but still…
MIND = BLOWN
I was hoping it would of been out on the 3rd for my birthday… oh well. hopefully it comes out soon!
Next challenge: build a Turing machine.
pah I’m gonna go with the enigma machine instead 😛
Imma beat your enigma code!
Uh, that is neat 😀 Reminds me my school years which are a few years back by now… Answer to the last question is A, yes?
Most interesting part might be the terraforming he does, wonder what this will look like in CRPL. Any chance for us to see the code of it?
I didn’t expect an update either so quickly, but it’s nice to see the beta testers are unleashed (well, somewhat unleashed at least)!
Thank you for the video, J!
Thank you for posting it, V!
Assuming the resistance of the wire and switch and the internal resistance of the battery are negligible relative to the resistance of the light bulb, won’t closing the switch in the last question result in a short circuit as the current takes the path of least resistance around the bottom loop?
No.
If you assume no resistance on the light and wire, you will have a lamp operating at half power.
Assuming the lamp is the only resistor on the connection(at 10R), you would have a lamp operating at around 10-20% power, due to the inherent resistance of the wire and the mechanics of parallel circuits.
Whether or not you’ll be able to see some light from the bulb would most likely depend on the type of light used and lighting conditions in the area.
Humm, looking back, I made an oops. 🙂
If we were talking about mA and mV or uA/uV, that would be right.
In this case, we’d probably have a lamp operating at like <1-2% power, and it would not be visible except perhaps in pitch darkness.
Circuit’s already short. The light won’t come on, but that wire sure will smell funny!
Have we been over why we can’t get something like a “like” button for these comments?
Loved your comment.
this circuit is already a short circuit changing A won’t change a thing
You’re right 🙂
I’m definitely looking forward to the maps that can come out of this game with such a powerful tool in CRPL.
what can I pull off, hmm…
*moves unit on top of area”Activating map reset please remove all command nodes now.’
*Destroys last emitter* “Activating level 2 please remove all command nodes now.”
“Secondary map loaded.”
*beats level again*
“Time for level 3.”
now thats IF I learn how to use the CRPL, or someone helps me with it
^ people feel free to use that idea, credit would be appreciated
thought of this just a second to late!
“3 minute limit reached, reseting map”
and
“Random reset” <thats how to make a map a complete troll
final idea (I hope)
"5 second limit reached, destroying everything now" *massive wave of creeper*
what ever the "You lost" screen is
^hey we still need to see that right?
The only problem with your last scenario it that in order for a map to get released to the public at large, that is for more than map moderators to see it, someone has to post a score. So the map has to have a solution in order to get released.
To win, you would just have to add a script line to destroy the CRPL Tower, no?
Who ever said anything about there being a ‘you lost!’ screen?
Then again, have we ever seen V lose?
The closest thing to losing that he’s posted a video of was being unsuccessful at destroying the ChopRaider CRPL towers.
Sweet! I was not expecting this 😀
Always leave us open for surprise, eh, virgilw? 😉
Thanks for making the video, J!
I think my first CRPL script will be a “revenge emitter”. All emitters on the map will be CRPL Towers looking like emitters. The script will simply make all alive emitters (with are towers) exponentially stronger whenever one emitter is destroyed. That sould shut up the people who complain about too easy levels, once you destroyed the first emitter.
I would like to get the Notepad++ Plugin before the release, to have a look into the language and start progging, but I doubt that would happen. Anyway, looking forward.
If you look at the Chimera video, you will notice that the emitter graphic is not animated. It’s stationary.
Nice job J, watching now 😀 . Hopefully we’ll have more guest videos to fill the gaps? Perhaps? Maybe? Okay…
I’m sure we will, as the forums indicate 🙂
But let’s not get greedy, and not expect more than 1 video a week, eh? 🙂
I CAN’T WAIT ANY LONGER!!!!!!!!! :):)
you almost read my mind, only I had 15 of the !
I sense free ground fortification…
wanir is cw3 uit?
I see the force is with you virgil. I must ask, are you omniscient?
Well,i just realized that SOME CLASSIC MAPS (eg. CW-CW2-(maybe)CW3 maps) CAN BE VERY ENTERTAINING) (as virgil said in The Bulk) even without those scripts
anyways good work!
Hope to see it out soon!
Suggestion: I think there should be a visual aid if terrain just has changed height via CRPL. Maybe some big smoke-like animation around the terrain which changed height, staying there for a second or so?
Now there might change some terrain height somewhere on the map, and you can easiliy miss it, while it is probably quite important.
Surely CRPL will let you spawn animations or sprites with timed-life on cells to mark such changes in terrain if you see fit to implement them into the script. But we have yet to see the full list of possibilities with the CRPL 🙂
Indeed, there are several api methods that deal with creating another core, and giving it scripts, which could accomplish exactly that.
would be great for the terraforming tool too
hey knuckle cracker when comes creeper world 3 out cant wait to play it seems better then the previous two
and didnt it would come out last year ? still making approvements i think
Last night I dreamt that there was a new creeper world 3 video every day until release…
kinda sad when I woke up and found out there wasn’t D:
Last night I dreamt I PLAYED CW3,just got obsessed about drag&build and other stuff,so sad that dream ended 🙂
Lol I had a CW3 dream before ^.^
AGH HURRY UP AND RELEASE IT SO OUR DREAMS CAN COME TRUEEEE!!!!!
How Awesome! CW3 can be educational as well as entertaining. Maps can have quizzes built in that when incorrect answers are given another emitter appears, emitters get stronger, Digitalis grows… likewise correct answers could to the opposite. Thanks for building in such a powerful scripting engine for custom maps! Watch out Oregon Trail.
