[VPAC - Vertu's Creeper Buildings] [CSMD] ANTI NUKE - Creeper Strategic Missile Defense

The CSMD is the only countermeasure to Strategic Missiles from the SML (Strategic Missile Launcher). In older models, the interceptor missiles launched by the CSMD flew straight to the strat missile. This has been utterly scrapped in favor of a more complex interceptor missile which uses target prediction to intercept the strat missile far more reliably and effectively.

Once the targeted strat missile is destroyed by interceptors, they will being to search the entire map for additional strat missiles to intercept until they burn out of fuel and self destruct.

The interceptor missiles of the CSMD have a 3 staged fuel system (also keep in mind, by “fuel”, I mean “limited resource used for propulsion”, none of that combustion trash {though ignition still occurs}).
Stage 1: Low thrust rate, high maneuverability. Used when unable to orientate into an optimal flight directory for interception. This is typically only utilized by the interceptor after missing the targeted strat missile.
Stage 2: Moderate thrust rate, moderate maneuverability. Used as the main method of motion for closing in on an intercept course and when tracking the strat missile is difficult.
Stage 3: Booster thrust, low maneuverability. Only used when the interceptor is dead-on with its desired intercept course as the Basic Strategic Missile and Anti-Creeper Strategic Missile move very fast and gravity just makes them move faster. This stage is needed in the event the interceptor missile is trailing behind the strat missile and can be used to close the distance when lagging behind. This stage is limited when in close proximity to the target to prevent overshooting. However, strat missiles can still be too fast for even the booster stage when given enough time to accelerate with aid of gravity on the descent path.

Note: There is no “burn time” based on thrust output. All interceptor missiles have a fixed life-span.

The multi-ringed range indicator of the CSMD originally displayed the effective areas from the CSMD where the interceptor missiles had improved interception reliability with each ring further from the CSMD being a less reliable area of interception. This was before interceptors had target prediction of strat missiles but there has been no reason to remove this and is a way to identify the CSMD's range independently due to its uniqueness.
