[Crash] During Exchange map
« on: October 02, 2017, 04:31:52 am »
I was about 30 minutes into this mission when the game crashed. Didn't seem to be the direct result of any particular action I took, it just kind of happened.

Report is attached.

The crash report shows you're running 4 high-resolution monitors on an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 card with 3GB or RAM?

Code: [Select]
Display: 0 [1920x1200] [1920x1200]
Display: 1 [1920x1080] [1920x1080]
Display: 2 [1200x1920] [1200x1920]
Display: 3 [1200x1920] [1200x1920]

Crash report also shows you've run out of graphics memory, immediately after you made an adjustment to the window size?

Code: [Select]
ODD WINDOW SIZE: 1920x1177

(Filename: C:/buildslave/unity/build/artifacts/generated/common/runtime/UnityEngineDebugBindings.gen.cpp Line: 37)

That doesn't even begin to make sense, since the 1070 cards usually have 8GB of RAM.

What is unique to your setup?

Thanks for looking at this so quickly.

I run the game in windowed mode and maximized it on display 0 after launching the game. I did not change it at any time during play. I do indeed have those 4 monitors in use.

I have no idea why it would say my card has 3GB; it does indeed have 8GB and I can confirm this in dxdiag.exe (and GPU-Z)

Would this game require more than 3GB VRAM anyway?

I'm not sure what would be considered unique about my setup.

Edit: I found this reddit thread, which may be related in some way? https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/4psb2u/a_weird_case_of_gtx_1070_vram/

Turn off the steam overlay (right click the game in the steam client and go to properties) for the game.  About 9 times out of 10 when I hear about multi monitors and GPU problems, turning off the steam overlay will make things more stable.  Also, if you have anything else running (like the windows 10 game recorder) that could also potentially use up GPU memory or cause issues.
