CW3 Steam Version Startup Crash - OSX 10.12.5

When I start the game, the window either crashes or opens and the Knuckle Cracker Logo appears but doesn't animate and freezes. I am able to launch the game by constantly reopening the window, but this may take hundreds of tries. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, rebooted computer, restarted steam, nothing seems to work.

The first thing I would do is disable the steam overlay and try again (do a full reboot after disabling the steam overlay for the game). Many of these native crashes on OSX and linux are related to the GPU driver and the steam overlay.
