Wait... Size 300x300... I didn't think that was possible... Interesting.
Don't die! :)

Loved this map, a good long fight, Tech spaced out very well to encourage you to conquer all the islands.

Most of the map poses no real challenge, it's simply big.

Ok, this is the first custom map I've tried because it looked big and fun. So far it is, but I'm stuck trying to get some of the outlying technologies. The guppies came online with no problem, but I'm unable to grab the sniper tech. What am I missing? Does it have to be directly connected to the main base?

yes...  ;)
or to a CN via a collector or relay at least.... so a flying CN can grab tech if it connects to a collector/relay that is connected to a tech pickup  8)

can anyone please explain me how is it possible to have map of this size - 300*300?

Apologies for the late post but I've just gotten into trying some custom maps and I'm stuck here. I've taken quite a few islands - https://imgur.com/KPk6ZsQ.png - but can't get any of the remote techs. Only 2 of the islands can have a CN landed, and neither of those have tech. None of the islands are close enough to link with a collector (bar two at the bottom, but those have no techs either).

Is there some trick I'm missing? Cheers.

It looks like to make any meaningful long-term progress you need to

capture the southwest island and get the tech there. There's actually enough time to grab the techs before the creeper overruns them if you land your CN there at the beginning of the game, but since you're already well into your playthrough you'll have to

attack from the island 2 north of the "tech island." You'll notice there's an island with enough space for a CN there that can be connected to the tech island with the aid of 2 PZ collectors across a few islands. Here's an example of how the connectivity from the CN on that island looks:

Thanks for the tips. Such a shame that missing that one thing at the start will hugely increase the time needed to beat the map. I don't mind maps that take hours to beat, but with this one it just feels like time wasted. Live and learn I suppose.

Trying to take those islands with all default skill levels was slow. With relay, a 2nd CN, and especially the forge I think I'd still get through it quicker if I just restart now.

probably true for this sort of map!  it is a bummer i know, sometimes puts me off retrying for a while with the really grindy maps  ;)

Just played thru again and I was wondering why use collectors on the PZ instead of relays?

Collectors are cheaper to build, I think? (at least by default)
