Man, there's a random assortment of names!

I had to Google three of them - and was astonished to discover that I knew the work of Lieutenant Pigeon, but I never knew their name.

They're something of an icon here in NZ - thanks to this advert:

Yeah, there is definitely a range there of well known to pretty obscure. I came up with my theme idea with Major Tom and Sgt. Pepper (Both very well known), as well as Corporal Clegg (Not a well known song, but from a very well known band), and then I had to do some googling of my own to flesh out the last couple of spots. Also, nice times Cave!

What, these old things?!

;D

If by some chance I 'win' this tournament, I'm happy to defer to the second place getter and let them pick/run the next one - I love playing the maps, but the one time I did try to host the tournament, I made such a hash of it I couldn't come back for nearly a year!

dt42 and I have been swapping back and forth for the last several weeks, so if the standings end up the way they are right now (And this could easily change by Sunday), I propose that this might be a good week to open up next week's tournament to the first volunteer, preferably somebody who doesn't usually get a chance to do one. Of course, I'm speaking only for myself. dt42 may prefer to run another one if he keeps the 2nd place spot (Or advances to 1st), or maybe somebody new will end up in 2nd by the time Sunday comes making this suggestion moot.

On my first hosting try, it took me multiple posts/corrections and several "helps" from others to get something usable. Don't let a little adversity keep you from stretching your wings.

Heh heh!

Thanks for the words of support!

I had some (I thought!) awesome maps, but I bungled the running of the tournament.

For some reason I really struggled with the closing date - I'm in New Zealand, a day ahead of most of the world! - and I just couldn't figure out when it was supposed to end...

In the end it just sorta fizzled out and someone else rescued it and started the next one.

I don't actually remember who won/rescued me.

It's been a year and I just sort of put my head down and went back to map modding CW2 maps where I couldn't do any harm.

At the risk of speaking out of turn, CW3 is gonna be EPIC for these code tournaments.

Not for the actual code which is just a string of gibberish text, but for the awesome DMD maps you can generate (see the blog if you're wondering what I'm banging on about!).

deety42

I'm good with ceding any possible chance to someone else to run a tournament this time around.  I am trying mighty hard to approach some of those times...

That's usually the case, but he rarely completes all of the maps. He usually cherry picks a couple of the more interesting ones and just plays those. Since he's done 4 this week so far, it's anybody's guess whether or not he'll decide to complete the fifth one as well...
