yesterday i still could access chat. when i shut down my computer i still could do it. and now i can't access it. why?

I had to turn it off because it had turned into a bit of a mess recently.  Basically, some mean kids were abusing it from time to time.

Give Virgil and Chani some time to get things back under control. It is always a hassle when a 4Chan kiddie gets a bug up his backside and gets his buddies to attack your site.

Bear in mind that stuff like chat is like 3 levels removed from why we are here - to play CW and the next CW.

A thought occurred to me that might work regarding chat.  I do not know specifically which mod you installed for chat, so I'm not sure this will work.

Often it is possible to assign users to a group based on post count. You can then assign specific capabilities to a group, such as chat. If you assign a threshold to chat so that only "regulars" can access chat, that might cut down on the spamming and hassles in chat. Also, *perhaps* a more senior group of people can be assigned limited moderation authority in chat to ensure that regulars don't jump the rails.

Just putting it out there. Personally, I think it is good for me (in the short term) that chat is unavailable, as chat usually sucks up all my time I have available.
