Alpha Sector: Countdown

In Alpha Sector's Countdown, there are 6 unique enemy units at the back.  Are they supposed to do something other than make the stage easier by providing a convenient power node to end it?  I think the CRPL is broken for them as they didn't do anything over the 38 minutes I played that stage.  Or maybe it was the anticipation of something uniquely horrible and devious that you have a heart attack before you finish?

are you talking about alpha sector - virgilw - chimera map?
if you get close to these unusual enemy units, they will attack you with creeper shots
use blasters (also called pulse cannons) since they can take the damage, then nullifier (behind blaster) on them,
then you have an emitter with variable density in the back, it will get a little strong as you get close to it, but nullify it and nullify all the other nullifyable stuff to win.
