Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere - the closest I could find was a passing mention in a thread that has been inactive for six months.

Auto Save.

I'd love the ability to have my game automatically saved every 30, 60 or 90 seconds of game time.

I make use of the 'Ctrl-C' quick save, but sometimes I get caught up in the moment and forget to save.

Then a stupid mistake trashes my progress and I've got to start over again...

When on a real mission, I do use the regular save slots, but I find the quick save keyboard short cut so much more convenient...

Thoughts?

I'd love to have autosaves, but my main problem with this idea is I usually save when I open up a chamber full of creeper or managed to get a foothold, what I don't want happening is that as soon as I open it up(and lose miserably), the autosave overwrites my last quicksave and I can't reverse it(have to start the map again :( ). Im sure there is a workaround for this problem though, just can't think of one right now.

Otherwise Great Idea  ;D

Yarp - I've seen auto saves where they don't overwrite, they just fill up a list sequentially, where you can chose how far back you go.

I already do this manually with the save slot system in the regular save menu - I start at the top and work my way down.

I love the quick save, but just having one slot is a bit limiting, like you say, you don't always want to overwrite.

Perhaps as part of the autosave addition, it could incorporate the quicksave - and add your 'manually forced' quicksaves to the list of autosaves. 10 or a dozen slots which overwrite the oldest should just about do it!

I'm sure Virgil will get right on to it!

Virgil will allways find the way :D

That would be very nice. A save every 30 or  60 seconds, added to a list of saves, with the manually forced quicksaves added in between. The list could be manually cleared or limited to contain maybe 500 entries, but in thruth it matters little. The save games are quite small.
Best of luck with your game,
