Title: Luck-Based Maps
Post by: Flash1225 on January 25, 2015, 03:58:18 PM
I know DMD is mostly luck for a good quality map, but I mean luck-based all around. Here's a list of steps:

1: Roll a 6-sided die numbered 1 through 6. Press the Next Crazy that many times.
2: Now comes the luck-based part. Roll the die a different number of times based on what types of properties, such as Terrain or Enemies. Change that many properties. You can change a property to whatever you want. Toggle properties will count towards properties changed.Another thing: The properties after Step 1 are the base properties. If you change a property, you can return it to the base, then it won't count towards the number of properties changed.
Terrain:
Number of Rolls: 3
This part is essential to the map. Theme will count towards number of properties changed, so I'd say don't change that, unless you can tell themes you don't like with just colors. Size also will count towards properties changed, although both height and width are considered one property. Seeds will count towards properties changed. Roll the die, then press the Rand Seed button that many times.
Resources:
Number of Rolls: 1
A somewhat optional part you can change. Roll the die. If it's a 1 or 2, you don't have to change the Resources properties. You will need to roll again for number of properties to change if you roll a 3, 4, 5, or 6.
Enemies:
Number of Rolls: 4
The most important part of any map is enemies. If there's digitalis in the base map, you aren't allowed to turn it off. You may enable digitalis if it is disabled initially.
Units:
Number of Rolls: 2
Optional, this time 1-3 on the first roll means you don't have to change unit limits. Thors are NOT allowed to be enabled.

Think this might work? I'm planning on doing this for a Custom map series.

If you don't have an actual die, random.org (http://random.org) will work just as well, if not better.

There's no difference between that and a normal "I feel Crazy map". Good luck with your map series, jsut don't post them over into Colonial Space. Players there don't much like DMD maps.
