Title: Copying another map.
Post by: petalbacon on October 15, 2021, 02:37:57 pm
Is there an easy/official way to copy another map with the intent to customize it?  For example, if I wanted to use the same mechanics that are in map #1590, and replace the terrain with my own, what's the proper way to do it?

I know that I can export the cpacks and import them into a new map, but I've seen where someone copies another map wholesale and then starts from there.

Any pointers?

Each map is a .cw4 file in a folder titled after the map number.
 -> My Games ->creeperworld4 ->colonies -> maps ->nnnn -> yyyy.cw4

Where nnnn is the folder name for a group of 100 maps
and yyyy.cw4 is the map by it's numerical number.

You can create a folder in
 -> My Games ->creeperworld4 ->editor -> [name of your map project]

and copy the yyyy.cw4 into that folder as save.cw4

and copy the yyyy.cw4 into that folder as save.cw4

That was the magic!  I wasn't naming it "save.cw4".  The copied map is now loading.  Thanks!

The creeper cursor is working.  Now to get the auto-builder working..
