After seeing how the Spike-class in the simulation testing grounds was capable of causing damage to insufficently proteced areas a redesign of the orginal blue print was made. Redesgined to be a breakthrough ship, the Spike MK2-class better point defence, a shield, added energy capacity, and two missles.
