Creeper world 3 steam broken map

I am having trouble with a previously documented issue in creeper world 3 - Troublesome Trains 02 - Freeplay

The score counter remains frozen - it does not go up or down so it is impossible to complete.  Im trying to complete all of the alpha sector maps and this so far is literally the only one that is broke.  I saw mention of a fix being added later by penguin was it not added to the steam version or is there any way at all to complete this and move on?  The Troublesome Trains 01 - tutorial mission works perfectly so its most odd.

Any help would be much appreciated.  I know its not the newest of games but it would be nice to finish the alpha missions!

It's broken, it will remain broken. The map maker has left the house.
