Title: CW3 Unit Placement Bug
Post by: 4xC on August 25, 2015, 01:18:29 PM
Difficult to spot, but get a load of this small motherload of bugs I have come across.

The 9x9 area cannot be inhabited by a CN even though all 9x9 cells are equal height and just look at the bright green unit placement icons to get an idea of a bug that seems to work with relays.

I can't seem to upload a save since I am using Steam and Cloud.

Umm, that barred placement may be a sleeper bug. Knuckle cracker is not responsible for supporting user content. I would ask again in the custom maps forum.

Can you replicate the relay bug on a non-sleeper map?

Given the location the image shows the bug taking place at and the units involved with this bug, it is clearly not a sleeper bug.

I will certainly try to replicate it on a non-sleeper map if I can, but since I am using steam, I am unaware of any way to upload saves anymore. I will check again if the directory thing that the sticky topic describes works with Steam, but I thought I saw nothing last time I checked.

When I said it was a sleeper bug, I was only talking about the first bug you mentioned. I said this because of the types of CRPL instructions that are required to create moving units. My hypothesis for the cause of the bug is the not entirely correct use of these functions.

The second bug is the one involving the relays. It may have the exact same cause, but I am not sure. That is the one I suggested you find a non-sleeper map to test with.

I can go into detail here. For example, discuss the complicated behaviour of these functions and saving/loading. A mapmaker practically has to bend over backwards to create bug free moving units.
