Summary of a Discord discussion about a possible new unit:

As the "old" CW3 shield generators(SGs) are adopted in the totems, another type of SG creating a shield between two units may be usefull.
Depending on game balancing the SGs could be limited to create either only one shield or two, in which case they can be used to create longer shield walls.
The shield itself could have a different effect than the totems' shield, that it does not stop creeper completely but rather slows it down depending on its efficiency. This is determined by the length of the shield, therefore the distance between the SGs, and the maximum height the shield covers. Depending on this area size the energy upkeep of the generators may also increase exponentially, to give enough balancing factors and not make it OP.
Of course, the height of the shield depends on the height of the SGs, so placing them on mountains or podests would be most efficient.
As for the vulnerability of the unit, either the SGs are very vulnerable and pop as soon as they take a hit, or are shielding themself only crash when the creeper flows over.

Not sure exactly which of several options you are talking about.

We are getting the CW3 bubbleshields already, but they are only from totems, and probably not possible to just build.

I can't tell if you are talking about something like CW2 shields or repulsors, or something else.

Either way, a localized shield would be interesting, but that purpose is still largely served by Anticreeper.

Still, I always loved having walls/repulsors in the second game.
