The only Thor in existence exploded, and we lost the specs for it. We’re royally screwed if that minuscule pool of Creeper that could probably be killed with your feet finds us.

Have you ever considered developing a CW iOS or android app?

He said he would work on porting a game similar to CW3 after he finished because its on Unity and therefore easier to port.

Whenever I try to watch the video it says “Safari cannot open the page because the adress is invalid”. All the other videos on the page work just fine, but not these 2.

  14. Mister_Andy
    Mister_Andy January 1, 2013 at 9:45 pm |

Is this REALLY how you came up with the original concept? (obviously you didn’t during this video, but I mean by watching a liquid pour/pool)

    That would be pretty spectacular.

    1. thephysicsgamer
      thephysicsgamer January 3, 2013 at 12:05 am |

It didn’t actually happen that way, in an interview some time ago, (or was it a blog post?)he said that that was how he came up with it as a joke.

Actually, he was experimenting with fog of war for a game similar to Chop Raider (look it up), and it sort of balloned from there….

    Tiuipuv January 2, 2013 at 8:18 am |

    virgilw:

I just tried it with Safari on a mac and the videos seem to play fine. I’d try the normal things like clearing cache, restarting browser, force reloading the page. If none of that works you can just look at my videos on youtube and play it straight from there. Look for user knucracker.

Ok thank you. I found it on youtube.

    sweetdude64 January 2, 2013 at 8:48 pm |

Mister_Andy- He didn’t think of it, platius needed a backup army against the creeper 😉
Virgilw- In the editor, will it be possible to time some drops/Texts? For example: The last mission on CW1 the thor spawned in, it wasn’t there from the beginning.

No Black Friday or Christmas sale?
I promise if you put them on sale again, I will buy a copy of CW1 and CW2. 😀

      Billy987bob January 3, 2013 at 7:02 pm |

That’s one person that I’ve seen wants a sale. It’s only 10 dollars each, and 15 as a bundle pack. Go buy it now it’s not much and Virgilw needs the money.

  18. Billy987bob
    Billy987bob January 3, 2013 at 7:07 pm |

Great job Virgilw! Can’t wait for CW3. It looks like it’s coming along great! I know games take time to create, but , and I hope I speak for a lot of people when I say, I hope we can have this game within a month or so.

(sorry for bad grammar 🙁 )

Let this new year bring with it a wave of incomprehensible awesomeness , for the time of reckoning creeps ever closer. The church-bells shall ring with sanguine beauty, resonating their heart to the entire community. Miles away , the lone traveler, the orphaned heart, the lost souls shall hear this chime and venture from their den. To a world filled with overwhelming brilliance as the dawn of a new era, one where man is no longer chained like a feral fugitive to the plains of existence by this vast consuming entity.

    sweetdude64 January 4, 2013 at 6:29 pm |

Since we’re on the concept of CW on devices, I would just like to point out the most reasonable and logical game to release first would be CW evermore. And for things like HUD and structures, it would probably need to be in a tab, when the player clicks on it, it expands the full screen while pausing the game. Stuff like that would make it work.

  21. ShadowDragon7015
    ShadowDragon7015 January 4, 2013 at 9:57 pm |

He could easily make it work for the ipad or tablet because of the larger screen also the ipad has a stylus that you could use to double click on units for group movement. it wouldn’t fit on an ipod or android phone because of the small screen.

  22. sweetdude64
    sweetdude64 January 5, 2013 at 10:17 pm |

some phones are big enough. It would just need a zoom feature. Most phones have that anyways.

  23. ShadowDragon7015
    ShadowDragon7015 January 6, 2013 at 1:30 pm |

But it would still be difficult to monitor thewhole map with a smaller screen.

    4xC January 7, 2013 at 10:58 am |

Since this has RTS and plenty of time consumption involved, I see no reason to have it on a phone.

    1. Ronini
      Ronini January 7, 2013 at 2:38 pm |

But you can beat most levels in 5-15 minutes. Factor in an auto-save feature and “CW to go” could become quite succesful.

      1. 4xC
        4xC January 9, 2013 at 10:14 am |

Then how about this: Every level that can be beaten in said time frame passes for phone play and only if within that time can they be played on phones.

Every level that has never been beaten fast enough on the other hand would not be playable on phones.

        1. Ronini
          Ronini January 10, 2013 at 1:30 am |

Why do you have to set a limit like that? Surely there are people who play with their phones for hours on end.

Mind, a mobile version of CW will have to be a relatively independent game anyway. Not an exact copy of an existing game. This includes maps, so there will be maps specially created for the mobile game.

If it’s to be done, it ought to be done properly. Which is the reason a mobile version of CW won’t come in the near future. But it could someday. Not that I’m too keen on it, using a Nokia phone, which most likely won’t be compatible anyway.

        2. Lurkily
          Lurkily January 12, 2013 at 8:23 am |

“Vanilla” CW3 probably wouldn’t be suitable for phones or tablets – the resource consumption is heavy, and the UI would need heavy reworking to get cozier with fingers instead of mice.

At this point it’s impossible to say if vanilla CW3 levels will be suitable to the game that is on the other side of those changes at all.

      Koker93 January 7, 2013 at 5:24 pm |

Lol – I love how dismissive you are here. I spend quite a bit of time waiting for people and spend it playing games on my phone. Yes, this is much more in depth than most phone games and probably will not be on mobile anytime soon, but it would be great fun on my phone…

        4xC January 9, 2013 at 10:16 am |

When there is much info to read up on (judgeing by how many words there are and how much space is taken), I usually skim through everything, decide what I think is the topic, make my own point, and leave it at that unless there is something important that comes up later. So yeah, I can be quite dismissive at times.

You know what I currently think? Creeper tower defence for the android 🙂
Would take some work, but would meet all the standards previously listed previously.

    1. Lurkily
      Lurkily January 12, 2013 at 8:27 am |

. . . . we have runners of various sizes and properties, paths made of digi, and the much more amorphous creeper, which will earn it a distinction from other tower defense games. Some pre-set maps and modification of runner behaviour and variety, heavy UI reworking, and that might be a workable spinoff.

Um… question about CW technology in terms of lore.

Is the nanolathe some kind of replicator type device that converts energy directly into matter to be turned into packets, or is it just an energy-hungry machine that makes packets from a resource so plentiful there’s no point modeling it ingame?

  29. sweetdude64
    sweetdude64 January 13, 2013 at 12:46 pm |

    Here’s an idea:
If there is a concept to make creeper exert anti-creeper, it must use ore. The more ore stored, the more the emmiter exerts. Maybe take 10% Ore out every time it emmits?

  30. sweetdude64
    sweetdude64 January 13, 2013 at 12:48 pm |

Whoops, made a mistake..It should be “If there is a concept to make EMMITERS exert anti-creeper, it must use ore.”
    Sorry for the confusion/double post!

If you watch past videos he says it will be this year. Likely in the first half of the year. No promises or official dates though.

I’m anxious too. But also grateful that he produces sequels so quickly compared to many other games.

I hope this will be released this year – or at least this century!
I mean I have been waiting for this game so long it now kinda makes itself repulsive…. 🙁
Release an alpha or beta or anything, game is great as it is!
